Pelé Movie In The Works
It’s no surprise that the story behind perhaps the greatest footballer of all time would make a fairly decent movie, and I’m not the only one thinking this; Imagine Entertainment has plans to shoot a movie about the legendary Brazilian player.
Variety is reporting that the studio has asked brothers Jeff and Michael Zimbalist to write the script, with a view to directing the project as well.
Featuring a mix of English and Portuguese, the movie will centre around Pelé’s remarkable early years, with Kim Roth of Imagine Entertainment describing it as, “A coming-of-age story that will trace Pelé’s childhood until he won his first World Cup in Sweden at the age of 17.”
The film will be shooting next year, with hopes that it will release before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
