GAME Shifting Stock Before Administrators Come In?

Update: Gamestation York staff have said they’ve been told to put all stock on sale, further price cuts to come in the next few days.

GAME and Gamestation are trying to shift as much stock as they have, potentially trying to hold off the administrators for as long as they can.

Staff at GAME have confirmed that lots of ‘pre-owned’ consoles are going to be sold on the cheap. There’s suggestion they could even be selling off some new stock as pre-owned.

With original Nintendo DS consoles going for £19.99, Wii’s from £39.99 and PSP’s from £29.99, it seems all old stock is set to be re-housed on the cheap. It’s not just old consoles though; the Xbox 360 Slim 250GB is being sold for £129.99 and a 250GB PS3 will only set you back £129.99.

You can even get a new (or pre-owned) Gears of War 3 Limited Edition 250GB Xbox 360, with Gears 3 game, for only £199.98 – add a penny for pre-owned, bizarrely. This is £100 cheaper than competitors HMV, who themselves have had some financial trouble as of late.

As well, ‘lastlaststar’ posted on HotUKDeals that they’d been able to buy 800 Microsoft Points for only £2.98, a potential sign that everything and anything must go.

It seems that along with the pre-owned games sale earlier this week, GAME and Gamestation are either trying to temporarily relieve some of their financial woes, or simply offload their stock before the curtain falls.

  1. I think I might take my wallet into GAME and buy a shit load of MSPs… and a PS3.
